10/25/22 Corniglia Italy
Entrance to Corniglia Italy, the last of the 5 villages of the Cinque Terre.
Greetings from beautiful Moneglia Italy! We had a little wet weather last night with more forecast for today. So, we decided to get up early and hit a weather window and visit the last of the Cinque Terre villages, Corniglia.
The village is built on top of the cliffs, water on one side, mountains on the other. This is the only village without a harbor, it’s way, way up a steep hill. I wasn’t looking forward to the hike, so when we got off the train and started up the hill I almost cried when I saw a small shuttle bus🤭Beautiful
Whole different vibe than the 4 other villages. It’s much older and more rustic.
Trail system map of Cinque Terre
The five villages are a world class hiking destination. It’s on lots of hikers bucket list (not mine) so, the trail system runs through Corniglia. The village caters to them with hostels and B&B rooms.
Trail through Corniglia. Tour guide Cindy walked a little of it, Mike no!Of course, there’s lots of Bars” Old school village Beautiful This is an ancient area, the Egyptians used to raid this area for slaves to build the pyramids. Think about that for a minute 🤔
Fun day, man the crowds here are huge in the afternoon. Think we’ll go home and plan tomorrow’s trip to Pisa. Two hours away on the train!
Good morning Mike and Cindy,
I am so enjoying traveling along with you through your photographs. I’ve been sick for a week, ever since returning from Corpus Christi and a visit with my daughter and her family. My grandson shared a little something yucky with me. On the mend now. The emails and photos of your travels have been brightening my days. Have fun and be well. Debra
