12/23/22 Avignon France

Bonjour from beautiful and warmer Uzes France
Clean, fresh and ready for the holidays. It’s hopping at 9:00 AM.
Fresh and so beautiful.
The French love fresh shellfish, who doesn’t!
Note the age of the butchers. France has a fantastic apprentice program to help kids find careers.
If it’s France, we need at least three wine stores.
The French love fancy foods.
Can’t have dinner without frites.
The food just knocks my socks off.
Now that’s a bakery stall.
What can I say, yumm😜
Fresh spices, just like Istanbul.
Can’t forget the Patisserie.
Basilique Saint Pierre
Panorama view of Palais des Papes and Cathedral Notre Dame.
The Pope had residence here in the 1300’s and it only became part of France in 1791 with the French Revolution.
Part of the Palace is under renovation, which I’m sure never stops.
Cathedrale Notre Dame
Climbing up to Rocher des Doms.
View from the top looking back at the cathedral. Cindy loves swans.
Pont Saint-Benezet (also known as Pont d’Avignon). Built in 1100, destroyed in one of many, many wars in 1200. Rebuilt again and then abandoned in the 1700’s as it washed out often.
Couple of happy campers walking the wall.

Ok , back to beautiful Uzes and a little wine trip tomorrow.

Av revoir 🍷
