12/04/22-12/07/22 Paris, France
Eiffel Tower from the River Seine
Cindy and Kate took the train from Reims to Paris for a little sightseeing after their champagne party.
After checking into their hotel in the 10th arrondissement area of Paris, they used the Paris Metro system to get around the huge, huge city. We’ve used the Paris Metro system since 1986 and, Cindy’s glad to report the subway is much, much cleaner and safer than it’s been in the past several visits. Ok, tour guide Cindy says walking tour. I’ve been on these in Paris, they can be brutal, 35,000 plus steps🤔First stop where else, the Eiffel Tower, unfortunately it’s snowing in Paris, so they only went to the second floor, via the stairs!Looks like two happy campers.Paris from the Eiffel TowerWalking time, over to the Arc de Triomphe, very little traffic!Paris is in full Christmas decoration mode. L’eglise de la Madeleine…walking, walking, walking. The mall at the Louvre, beautiful!Ok, now the real star. A nighttime Champagne river cruise on the river Seine. Cold, but they sat on the top, outside.Cathedral Notre Dame. Notice the construction cranes, projected completion 2024, in time for the Paris Olympics. You remember the terrible fire here in 2019The Louvre and Ferris wheel!Beautiful! And last but not least, the star!
Ok, back to the hotel and some wine. Cindy and Katie reported 37,000 steps, including 95 flights of stairs. I’m sorry I missed that 😎
Day two, walking again, Place Des Vosges.Paris is beautiful. Did you know Paris is hosting the 2024 Olympics? They are getting ready. The Hotel de Ville, old city hall decorated for Christmas.Luxembourg Gardens and PalaceLunch time, what else, French onion soup and red wine.Pont Alexandre III bridge, one of the most beautiful bridges in the world. And their grand finale was the Basilique Du Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre.
Ok, that’s it for Paris, only 26,000 steps 😜 Unfortunately, the weather was socked in so the pictures aren’t as beautiful as they could have been.
I’m happy to report, they returned safely to St. Emilion and I did a fantastic job with the wine.
If there are any two people to live vicariously through, it’s you guys! What fantastic pictures and commentary! I always love reading it. Hope you and Cindy are enjoying the holidays over there. We miss you guys!
