Happy Holidays from cold Reims, France
Due to technical difficulties (our internet is not great) our blog has been delayed! But here we go!
Cindy took the commuter train from St Emilion to Bordeaux, then the TGV (fast train) to Paris Montparnasse train station, then the Metro (subway) to Gare de l’est. She met up with Kate, and they took the train to Reims. Reims is about an hour from Gare de l’est. Quite the adventure don’t ya think? Mike stayed in St Emilion to make sure the wine was Ok.
Reims is a large city, 400,000 and it’s a commuter city to Paris. Also, Reims has the third largest Christmas market in France. Let’s take a look.Food and beverage booths, champagne anyone!French breakfast, croissants and coffee.Beautiful Christmas village Cindy and Kate visited in the evening and the next morning. They said it was good, but Germany’s markets are the best.Ok, let’s get to the real reason they are in Reims, champagne! 😜This is the entrance to Mumm. The French are very, very tight about champagne. The only champagne in the world is from the champagne area of France! Everything else is sparkling wine! Take note🧐Cindy and I took this tour in 2013. It’s a lot of fun!The most interesting part, I think, are the cellars below the city of Reims. They are massive and everywhere below the city. The cellars are carved from the limestone and go for miles. The champagne is stored a minimum of 5 years at Mumm. Some as long as 10 years plus.Mumm sells over eight million bottles of champagne a year and is the third largest producer of champagne in France. Nothing like a little champagne 😎Alright, who wants to go to Paris 😜
