11/14/22 Cadiz Spain
Greetings from beautiful and warm Cadiz Spain and the south of Spain
Beach in front of the Castillo de San Sebastián
Tour guide Cindy wanted to take a ferry ride to nearby Santa Maria so off we go!
Catamaran passenger ferry Beautiful sunny dayQuick walking trip around the city, usual sights. However, their bull fighting rink was spectacular Matadors are still held in very high regards hereCadiz is a major stop on the cruise ship circuit, sometimes as many as five in town at one time. It can overwhelm the city’s central district Central district
We are so impressed with Cadiz. We had visited here for a day in 2019 and were hoping to enjoy our stay here. Cadiz far exceeded our expectations!
The city/island is only 2 km long and 1 km wide. It’s extremely walkable. We’ve walked almost 90 miles in the 10 days we’ve been here. Extremely clean and well maintained buildingsWe enjoyed the seafood market immensely. I cooked seafood everyday in the Airbnb The Malecon surrounds the island. Flat and very well maintained and clean. Each neighborhood seems to have a beautiful plaza, where people gather daily to talk. Many parks are by the sea and Malecon.Cadiz has fantastic beaches. I’m sure in the summer it’s incredibly packed with families enjoying the water, beaches and sun.
The Tapa’s bars are fascinating, open from 12:00 till 3:00ish, then 8:00-12:00ish. They are the neighborhoods hangout. A small wine/ Sherry/beer, a little Tapas snack, chat away the day with friends, family and neighbors.
Classic tapas bar, this one specializes in “cheese tortillas”, what we call quiche 😳As fresh as it gets.
One more day here in Cadiz, then a four hour drive through the Andalucians to Malaga, on the Costa del Sol of Spain for 14 days.
