10/15/22-10/16/22 La Morra and Alba Italy

Wow, when we were invited to a Saturday wine tasting at the local Coop Enoteca ( wine store) we didn’t know what we were getting ourselves into😎

Wine tasting room, also an art gallery.

Turns out, it’s €20 for 20 promised tastings! Turns out it’s 30 tastings from nine different winery’s! What are a couple from Idaho supposed to do! Dive in we say👍

Ok, two blocks back home and a small charcuterie plate (had to have a beer, the wine kind of dehydrated us).

Ok, up bright and early, well, more like 9:00 AM, and not so bright. Off to Alba, a larger city in the valley below about 12 miles away for the Boroughs Bacchanal. It is a celebration of Albas past where neighborhoods reenact what life was like in the Middle Ages in Alba

Each neighborhood flys their colors
Lots of traditional pride
Also venders line the streets into the festival.

Cheese?
Fresh pasta
Salted Codfish

This weekend is also the Alba truffle festival. Alba is world famous for truffles. We did a quick visit, but skipped the wine tasting experience 🤭

They also have truffle stores along the street

Ok, enough truffles , let’s checkout the neighborhood festival.

It’s very popular
Each neighborhood has its own game to play
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire.
And it’s own food and drink. Did you notice the difference in costumes by neighborhood?
It’s for two days a year and it gets absolutely packed.
Beautiful crafts are sold!
Italian police have the best uniforms !

Ok, that’s enough for today, I’m hearing of a short road-trip tomorrow
